What is the difference between Positive Pressure and Natural Convection when it comes to wood burning fireplaces?2019-06-18T07:54:35-07:00

We offer both our exclusive Positive Pressure system and Natural Convection wood burning fireplaces! Positive Pressure, or Posi-Pressure draws outside air into the cavity around the firebox and heats it, then circulates it throughout the home and seeks out cold spaces, warming your entire home. Natural Convection pulls room air from below the fireplace, heating the air as it is channeled around the firebox and distributing it back into your room through the convection chamber to evenly heat your home.

Please note: Our exclusive GreenStart™ Igniter is an available option with our Apex wood fireplace models.

Why is a Lopi Stoves® wood fireplace more efficient, producing more heat than the open fireplace I grew up with?2019-06-18T07:54:35-07:00

Our zero clearance wood fireplaces are clean-burning EPA certified home heaters. They are all sealed appliances that pull all of their combustion air from outside, so you are not using your heated air from inside for combustion. And in many cases, installing a zero clearance wood fireplace is half the cost of installing an open masonry fireplace.

Can I install a mantel above my wood fireplace?2019-06-18T07:54:35-07:00

This bulletproof technology achieves roaring fires with super-long burn times and very high BTUs, making it the perfect system for our powerhouse home heaters.

How do I know my wood is dry enough to burn?2020-03-02T14:52:52-08:00

Wet wood creates excessive smoke and moisture in the firebox, whereas dry wood allows for a hotter, more efficient burn. Lopi® includes a FREE MOISTURE METER with every wood model so you can ensure you are burning dry wood and getting the highest performance out of your appliance. Simply split your wood and use your moisture meter to test it out!

Why does my blower take so long to come on?2020-03-04T09:45:15-08:00

The temperature sensor (snap disc) for the blower is on the bottom or back side of the firebox. Once the sensor comes to temperature, the blower will come on. This temperature sensor can take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to heat up and turn on the blower(s). This depends on how much wood and how large the fire is.

Why does the blower come on then go off then repeat this cycle?2020-03-04T09:46:03-08:00

This is called cycling. This occurs when the blower comes on and the air the blower pushes through the fireplace cools off the temperature sensor. A hotter fire will help eliminate cycling from happening. If this does not you should contact your local service company.

Smoke enters the room at start up when it is cold outside and the bypass is open.2020-03-04T09:50:59-08:00

The venting that takes the exhaust outside is cold not allowing the smoke to go up. If you have a Greenstart igniter press the button before loading and let it, run a cycle. This will preheat the venting. If there is not an igniter on the insert, start a small hot fire at the rear of the firebox with newspaper. This will preheat the vent kick starting the draft.
